Project Case Study - Kokomo IN City Hall
Project Case Study - Kokomo IN City Hall

A renovation requiring a complete overhaul of certain areas, designers' endeavored to create a space to which multiple generations could relate while centering the design on the city's future. The existing public mezzanine, council chambers, private offices and large conference room received facelifts while the addition of a floating staircase became the centerpiece of this ultramodern city hall transformation. Welded piece by piece in 36-inch sections, the three-story spiral staircase set the tone for this futuristic and sophisticated design.
In the main council chambers, Travertine Silver 180fx® was specified to resurface the existing curved desk, columns and wall paneling. "Without sacrificing our budget or the high-end design aesthetic we sought to achieve, Formica Corporation's Travertine Silver 180fx® enabled us to make a design statement in this highly exposed space while adhering to the clearly defined project budget," shared Whittney Beechy, interior designer with Mawr Design. This same large-scale laminate design was carried throughout the space, surfacing columns in both the mezzanine and conference room.
"As designers, we're always so appreciative of manufacturers that can recognize a niche need in our industry and capitalize on that. Formica Corporation has done just that..."

"As designers, we're always so appreciative of manufacturers that can recognize a niche need in our industry and capitalize on that," Beechy continued. "Formica Corporation has done just that with its 180fx® collection of laminates. They have allowed our designs to come to life, while enabling us to stay within our clients' budget parameters. And for that, we are thankful."
